COURSES DESIGNED AND DEVELOPED

FOR SPECIFIC CLIENTS

Individuals who have practical experience of the subject and are not simply academic theorists deliver these courses.

1.     Finance for non-Financial Managers in a medium and large organisation.

This originally 2 day, later abridged to one day course (after excluding several exercises and a second video), developed for a large multinational with over 450 UK staff, covered the theory behind the 3 basic financial documents: profit and loss forecast, cash flow forecast and balance sheet. This was followed by a close examination of the internal monthly management accounts of the business and an explanation and discussion of the other control information used by senior management.

A special feature of the second part of the course was that it involved managers from the finance department of the company who were engaged in a question and answer session with the course facilitator playing the role of a newly appointed section manager in the business.

2.     Retail and telesales selling skills improvement programme.

Two evening workshops, each lasting 3 hours, were designed and delivered for the staff of a specialist retail and mail order business.

The workshops focused on customer identification, the selling environment, customer care, personal presentation and the use of language.

The aim was to both improve staff morale and increase profitable sales.

3.      Small shop management skills improvement

Three evening workshops on the themes of SALES, COSTS and PROFITS were developed and delivered on behalf of a Local Authority financially supported programme designed to improve the profitability of local retailers.

A feature of the programme was the offer of a FREE thirty minute one to one consultation with a business adviser on specific issues arising from the course for each delegate.

4.      Self-employment advice and business planning for refugees.

On behalf of a local Refugee Consortium, we were asked to assist in delivering modules on several 12-week courses designed to increase the economic well being of refugees.

The business sectors covered were the Computer Industry and Mini cabs.

5.      Business and Finance for Arboriculturalists

We designed and delivered a two-day business and finance module as part of a distance learning Masters degree programme provided by Middlesex University. Delegates came from both the private and public sector.

6.      Controlling Labour and Operational Costs

Two half-day workshops for medium sized business owners were designed and delivered as part of  a     series for a London Business Link programme.
