Grants And Awards

We have built up specialist knowledge in this area and have:

  • Raised over £90,000 through a scheme known as SPUR, (Scientific Products Under Research) as part of a £300,000 project for a small precision manufacturing company to design and test samples of two proposed new products and then design, develop and build two prototype machines capable of mass producing the products in a variety of sizes and modifications.

The project took 3 years. Our involvement started with the business plan and assistance with the grant application itself. We helped with project administration providing regular reports to the Government Office for London and filling in the quarterly claims.

  • Another grant of over £12,000 was obtained for a Birmingham engineering company under Regional Investment Grants to help with the purchase of new machinery to improve efficiency and capture an important export order
  • Help was given to a medium sized food company to apply for a grant under RSA, Regional Selective Assistance, to acquire additional premises and fit out with equipment and machinery
  • Several applications have been made for grants under the SMART shceme (Small Firms Awards Research and Technology)
  • We successfully assisted with a Freight Facilities Grant covering over 70% of capital costs relating to a water transport business.
  • Grants from Business Links and TECs towards the cost of consultancy services have also been obtained for clients under various initiatives, saving client companies up to 40 % of what they would have paid.

In some cases it has been possible to arrange for consultancy services worth over £2,000, to be provided completely free of charge to the client.

  • Assistance has been given in successfully applying for Local Authority administered grants for voluntary organisations and companies limited by guarantee, in one case for £15,000.

In all cases, eligibility for grants will be examined to see if you can benefit. However, we will also advise on the likelihood of obtaining the grants and whether the effort and risk involved would be justified for the amount sought. Quite often it is not. In most case the grants are only paid once the expenditure being supported has actually been paid and the implications on cash flow need to be carefully reviewed.

Several clients have obtained grants and loans through the Prince's Trust with our help and we were instrumental in another client winning the prestigious North London Tec / Natwest Bank 1999 award along with a prize of £1,000.
