ALBERT WRIGHT - JP. BA. MIBA.MIOD 

Born in Hartlepool in 1949, educated in Sunderland, he later studied at Manchester University and gained a BA degree in Modern History with Economics and Politics.

Since 1991 he has been involved in Interim Management and Business Consultancy working on Business Planning,Counselling and Training. He has a special interest in growth companies and Business Angel Finance and is recommended by former Dragons' Den panellist Rachel Elnaugh on her web site www.rachelelnaugh.com. More recently he has become a business coach working closely with John Niland of Success 121 www.success121.co.uk

Over the last five years he has also been involved in bid writing and advising on buying and selling businesses, mergers and acquisitions.

Albert worked closely with Essex Business Link on their Evolve Elite team advising growth businesses, Business Enterprise Consultants of Enfield, Barfield Training, TNG Business Support and InBiz. He was on the expert consultants panel for Streetwise Business magazine, was a visiting lecturer for the University of East London and Middlesex University and ran training courses and workshops for Essex Business Centre, several Business Links, private companies, Moore Stephens and continues to train business advisers for the Institute of Business Advisers (IBA).

He was involved with the development of the North London Enterprise Club, where he was vice Chairman for 3 years and founder and Managing Editor of their monthly news magazine, The Echo, as well as the North London Chamber of Commerce and was a director of North London Chamber and Enterprise Club Credit Union.

Albert believes strongly in training and regularly attends courses to improve his skills and comply with the Continuing Professional Development requirements of the Institute of Business Advisers (I B A) of which he is a full member. He is also an associate of the European Coaching Institute and a trained DTI Benchmarking consultant. Courses have included residential training at the University of Warwick Business School and Anglia University.

From an early age he had had part time retail and manufacturing experience in his father's home made chocolates shop and through working for a chain of regional department stores, Blacketts, in the North East of England.

He joined Marks & Spencer in 1970 and had a progressive career for 20 years before leaving and setting up his own Will Writing and later consultancy business.

At M&S Albert worked in a number of stores from Bradford in Yorkshire to Wood Green in London before joining head office in Baker Street London where he worked in a variety of departments including Food Sales Promotion, Food Administration and Food Distribution.

For most of his career he was involved in Food Buying. Product ranges covered were canned meats and vegetables, hot and cold drinks, recipe dishes, fish, bread, biscuits, cakes and desserts, home ware and hampers. As a Merchandise Manager he had full departmental responsibility for new product development, quality, buying, sales and marketing of food ranges with annual sales of up to £75 million.

Special Projects included research for, the establishment of, and commercial responsibility for, a self-service, 220 seater, in store restaurant at the Gateshead Metro M & S and research into hot, take away food. Another major, 3 year assignment, involved the development of a new, computer aided, Food Distribution System based on bar coded products, real time sales data capture and Just In Time Production and Delivery.

In his spare time he helped bring up two children, was Chairman of Governors of a primary school, Vice Chairman of Barnet Community Health Council and one time Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Social Democratic Party in Finchley, where the local MP was Margaret Thatcher, the then Prime Minister.

Since 1993 he has been a JP, a part time, lay magistrate for Middlesex, working in Haringey at the Highgate and Tottenham Courts and is a former Chairman of Barnet Voluntary Services Council, Barnet Police and Community Group and Vice Chairman of Barnet Community Health Council.

He is a strong believer in networking, being a member of Ecademy and the Beermat Ecademy group and has attended BRE and BNI meetings.
